Thank you to everyone who visited during Margaret River Region Open Studios and the Fremantle Print Award exhibition. It fills me with so much happiness to see people connecting with my work. Even more so when someone decides to make a permanent home for one of my pieces. There’s no better compliment. It’s been a busy couple of months and I’m happily now back in the studio and preparing for some new exciting projects.
In the meantime I thought I’d let you know about the 18th annual Margaret River Art Auction in case you happen to be in Margs this weekend. It’s a much loved local event supported by artists from near and far to raise funds for the Margaret River Independent School.
I’ve donated a framed Found #7 (Giclée print, Limited Edition 8 of 25) which will be auctioned at the event this Saturday night. Bidding is only open to those attending on the night so you never know, if you book tickets you might pick it up for a steal!
Congratulations to Roslyn Hamdorf who’s beautiful Sea Fog has won the main prize. I was happy to receive a commendation from the judges.
Sarah Hewer's 'Found #7' was commended for it's "wow factor".
"Technically very well executed. A very interesting piece that could read as a vessel, abstract treatment of a root or a shell. Very sculptural appearing to be rendered in marble with an almost archaeological quality. A transformative treatment and excellent resolution of a familiar object with an ocean connection which is so significant to the region."

The size is 81 x 120cm including the framing. I love this piece and hope the buyer will too! It’s the same size as I displayed during Open Studios. Possibly one of my favourite moments of the whole two weeks was when a little kid told me I’d made a mistake and displayed it upside-down. He explained, ‘Unicorn horns go the other way’. Alas it was the first time a unicorn had crossed my mind but now it’s there, well it’s there!
Book tickets for the auction here. Alternatively, if you’d like to find out about ordering one of my pieces for Christmas, now is the perfect time to reach out to ensure it’s ready and framed in time!
